Finding a Property

Rental Procedure in Malta
The procedure for renting a property in Malta is simple and straightforward.
After the client’s requirements have been communicated to one of our specialist letting associates, a number of properties will be selected specifically to suit that client’s needs. Properties are always hand picked, never simply chosen without careful and thoughtful consideration.
A letting associate then accompanies the client to viewings of the properties, providing personal assistance, answering questions, and refining the search to suit any changes in the initial plan.
Once a property has been chosen, RE/MAX Letting will negotiate a rental price with the landlord. A letting contract outlining any specific terms agreed between the parties is then drafted and signed.
Standard procedure is then to collect one month’s deposit a month in advance, and another half a month’s rent plus 18% VAT as the agency fee.
It is worth noting that properties are rented at a slight premium when the total duration of the lease is less than six months. The agency fee in these cases is 10% of the total amount.
Once all has been signed and paid, tenants are free to move in.
